The Forgotten Lives

Daniel Mercer wakes up on his 30th birthday, not to cake and congratulations, but to the crushing weight of another life. He's an old Japanese woman, then a Roman soldier, then a terrified girl in medieval France. Each memory floods him, erasing fragments of his own identity, leaving him disoriented and paranoid. His girlfriend, Sarah, dismisses it as stress, as delusion. But the details are too vivid, too real. He tries to cling to his life, his job as a history teacher, but the past lives bleed into the present. He sees ancient faces in his students, hears dead languages in the hum of the city. A strange man watches him from afar, his interest predatory. As Daniel spirals, the memories intensify, becoming a torrent he can barely control, culminating in a violent, alien flash that threatens to shatter his reality entirely.
